Who we are
Embeducate is a website for hosting educational activities and sharing them with students. For privacy inquiries: [email protected]
The information we collect and the purposes of its use
- Teachers: Name, email address and profile picture from the Google account, as well as login times, for the purpose of logging into the account and identifying the creator of the activities. In addition, the names of the classes and activities that the teacher creates are saved.
- Students: Nickname and any information entered in the activity: answers, progress, activity status, times, grade and screenshots of answers (if required in the activity). The purpose: generating a report for the teacher and the ability to continue from the same point. There is no need to create an account or enter a real name. Progress in the activity library is saved in the browser only and does not reach us.
- Cookies: Only two. One saves the teacher's login, and the second allows someone who published an activity without an account to view its report.
- Visit counting: On the public pages of the website (such as the homepage, the publishing page and the activity library), Cloudflare counts visits in aggregate and without the use of cookies. On the student pages and in the personal areas of the teachers there is no such counting.
There is no legal obligation to provide the information, but without a nickname an activity cannot be submitted, and without a Google account a published activity is deleted after about an hour.
Who receives the information
- Student work: The teacher who published the activity. Our access to the information is for operational or security purposes only.
- Cloudflare (hosting and operating the website) and Google (teacher login). The information is stored on Cloudflare's servers in the European Union. Cloudflare and Google may also process it on servers outside the European Union. By using the website you agree that the information will be stored and processed outside of Israel as well: in the European Union, and by Cloudflare and Google also in the United States and other countries.
- External services within activities: Activities, including activities in the activity library, may load fonts and code libraries from external services (such as Google Fonts). These services receive the browser's IP address and technical details about it. The content of an activity that a teacher publishes is their responsibility. The terms of use prohibit the collection of personal information in an activity or sending it outside the website, and we employ technical measures to restrict these actions, but we cannot guarantee that no activity will bypass them. The website does not transfer the student's nickname or other identifying details to the activity. The activity only has access to the information entered into it, the browser language and the student's own previous work, for the purpose of continuing from the same point.
- The website operates without advertisements and without selling information. Student information is not used to train artificial intelligence.
For how long
The information is kept until the teacher deletes the work, the activity or the account, or until a deletion request is received. An activity published without an account is deleted with its results after about an hour. After deletion, a backup copy is kept for up to 30 days.
Your rights
You may review the information kept about you, request to correct it or request its deletion, by contacting [email protected]. Regarding student work, contact the teacher who shared the activity (who can delete it themselves), or contact us with the link to the activity and the nickname.
Changes
Updates to the policy will be published on this page along with a date. For a material change in the use of information, a prominent notice will be published on the website 14 days in advance.
